Every university has a tech ecosystem. Most of it is scattered across department pages, cohort lists, and news posts, and nobody publishes the whole picture. Front Row Ventures scouts are fixing that one campus at a time: a free, public map of the startups and spinouts, funding, accelerators and programs, student clubs, research labs, and recurring events at each university, built by students who are there.

Campus maps
16 campuses across Canada, also shown on one map. Open a live map to explore that campus; the outline on each card is the map's own, traced from OpenStreetMap. Within a group the order means nothing.

About the project
A campus tech map is one page that shows the whole tech ecosystem around a university: the startups founded there and the research spun out of its labs, the funding a student founder can actually reach, the accelerators and campus programs, the student clubs, the research labs, and the events that recur every term. Each map is built from public sources, cites the source for every entry, and is free to read and free to reuse.
Why every campus
The ecosystem around a university is real, but it is scattered. A spinout is listed on a commercialization page, a student company on a cohort list, a lab on a faculty site, a pitch night in a club's newsletter. Nobody puts it all in one place, so founders, students, and the people who want to fund them all work from a partial picture. Front Row Ventures invests in student founders at more than twenty Canadian campuses, and its scouts are students at those universities. They are the people best placed to draw the map, and drawing it is how a scout learns their campus properly. So each scout builds one, to the same standard, and this page is where the maps live.

Credits
Started by Josh Syer, a UBC student and Front Row Ventures venture scout, with the UBC Tech Map in 2026. That first map set the pattern the other campuses follow: six sections, sourced entries, criteria-based inclusion, and a bar a map meets before it goes live. This directory grew out of it.
Each map is its scout's. A campus map is built and maintained by the Front Row Ventures scout credited on its card, and it is that scout's work, published at their own address. This page collects the maps; it does not own them.
Front Row Ventures is Canada's first student-run venture capital fund, built by students, for students. It backs student founders across more than twenty Canadian campuses and trains students to work as investors and ecosystem builders. The campus maps are a project of its scout program.
Open by design. Every map publishes its dataset under CC BY 4.0, and so does this directory (campuses.json). The campus outlines on this page are each map's own, traced from OpenStreetMap: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0.
Independent. The maps and this directory are community projects built from public information. They are not university publications and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any university named here; university names identify which campus a map covers and nothing more.
Corrections to a campus map go to that map, through the route it publishes. Corrections to this page go to its repository.
